On July 24, Siemens’ “2024 Greater China Realize LIVE User Conference” opened in Shanghai. As the annual event of Siemens in the field of industrial software, the conference gathered more than 1,000 industry experts, enterprise representatives, Siemens experts and excellent partners, set up a number of forums and product practical training courses, focusing on the new paradigm of artificial intelligence, industrial metauniverse, digital twins and other technologies in industrial application, and explore the forefront of the development of industry data intelligence.
Accelerate the industrial digital intelligence transition to accumulate energy for new quality productivity
With the theme of “Making Digital transformation real”, the conference will interpret the opportunities and significance of the deep integration of digital and intelligent technology and industry, and showcase the vision and measures of Siemens digital industrial software for the Chinese market in combination with the development needs of promoting new industrialization. Liang Naiming, senior vice president of Siemens Digital Industrial Software and managing Director of Greater China, said in his opening speech at the conference: “Today, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating, driving the rapid upgrading of China’s industrial digital transformation. Digital twin as the core technology of real integration has entered the “deep water area” of application, and the industry digital main line as a digital form of process, can enhance and expand the application and value of digital twin, the combination of the two will give industry users the ability to be highly connected, from virtual to reality, from the design stage to the manufacturing stage, the operation stage, to promote the quality and efficiency of enterprises. As a technology company, digital technology is the direction we have been deeply engaged in. In China, we have helped customers in many industries, including automotive, new energy and fast moving consumer goods, realize digital breakthrough. In the era of artificial intelligence, we will integrate Siemens’ long-practiced industrial AI technology into digital technology to form an immersive, interactive, real-time collaborative and sustainable industrial metauniverse, while continuing to expand our ‘circle of friends’ along the value chain, and promote customers to embrace new quality productivity with new quality cooperation, injecting surging momentum into the high-quality development of China’s economy.”
Subsequently, many customer representatives of Siemens also shared the journey and achievements of cooperation with Siemens, from FAW-Volkswagen to build a large-scale enterprise-level industrial Internet private cloud platform based on Siemens Insights Hub; To Amazon Cloud Technology and Siemens work together to integrate cloud computing and generative AI to help Chinese manufacturing enterprises seek incremental value; When Mingmen, the global leader in infant products, uses Siemens PLM solutions to accelerate digital transformation and implement its corporate green strategy, Siemens’ industrial software solutions and comprehensive services are empowering stalemates and innovators in various industries to “connect the dots” across the end-to-end business chain, doubling performance, efficiency and asset value.
AI+ Cloud + digital main line + industrial metacosmic synergy
Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens Digital Industrial Software, gave a more in-depth interpretation of Siemens’ technical layout in industrial software at the meeting, saying that it will rely on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital mainline, industrial metauniverse and other technologies. To enable industrial companies to fundamentally transform the way products are conceived, designed, manufactured and served, and to achieve sustainability.
AI: AI technology is now integrated into many companies’ digital transformation strategies, helping to improve productivity, optimize customer experience and enhance decision-making. Tony Hemmelgarn introduced Siemens’ three ideas for the application of artificial intelligence in the industrial field: Analyze, Optimize and Generate.
Analytical capabilities that combine natural language processing with the AI Copilot built in Siemens Industrial software to query and process complex data in design, engineering, manufacturing and field production with a simple prompt; At the same time, with AI capabilities, users can optimize production planning, manufacturing, plant configuration and other processes, and automatically generate design specifications, production manuals and even geometry.
Cloud: For AI technology to continue to develop and play a role, computing power is undoubtedly the core driving force. As an indispensable infrastructure for computing power, cloud computing and AI technology complement each other, and the combination of the two creates a solid foundation for the development of enterprise data intelligence. Siemens’ advanced industrial software and industrial AI capabilities partner with the world’s leading cloud service providers to provide a convenient, efficient and cost-effective choice of industrial software for businesses of all sizes. Joe Bohman, Executive Vice President, PLM Products, Siemens Digital Industrial Software, presented the latest innovations in Siemens’ Xcelerator as a Service (XaaS) industrial cloud software. Solutions such as NX X, Zel X, Opcenter X, Simcenter X and Teamcenter X Essentials run through the entire production chain, enabling all parties in the chain to collaborate with the tools and data they need, anytime, anywhere. Joe Bohman shared that the global cloud computing market will exceed $1 trillion by 2026, which will unlock massive value and opportunities compared to the IT market. Siemens Xcelerator as a Service provides a complete SaaS solution and connects all aspects of the product lifecycle based on Siemens’ digital mainline, providing secure, flexible, out-of-the-box industrial cloud software, while providing personalized and customizable capabilities, integrating Siemens’ community strength, and providing a comprehensive solution. Empower the ecology with the expertise and knowledge of industry experts, partners and Siemens to jointly advance the landing and development of industrial cloud solutions.
Tony Hemmelgarn shared what Siemens has achieved since implementing its cloud strategy: “We began deploying our cloud strategy two years ago, and after two years of honing and developing our cloud business revenue has grown steadily, 14,000 customers worldwide are now using our hybrid cloud software-as-a-service (HSaaS) solutions, and the results show that Siemens’ industrial cloud solutions have helped customers get to market 33% faster. IT costs have been reduced by 60% and the future needs of their business are met with built-in scalability.”
Digital Thread: Integrating enterprise data into your workflow is key to the success of your product at every stage of its life cycle. To this end, Siemens introduced the Digital Mainline, which aims to string the enterprise’s discrete data into a backbone, connecting the various processes and tasks along the production chain, eliminating resource silos, enabling it to improve product quality and accelerate product innovation at a faster speed and lower cost.
Robert Jones, executive vice president of Global Sales and customer success at Siemens Digital Industrial Software, introduced in his speech that Siemens’ digital main line covers 13 industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, machinery, batteries, and semiconductors, and can customize different digital main lines according to the different characteristics and needs of each industry. Integrate all the data, information and functionality you need with a selected portfolio of Siemens products to unlock your own digital roadmap. Siemens has built up to 65 digital mainlines to help industry users build out-of-the-box business processes.
Industrial metauniverse: As a fusion of multiple information technologies, industrial metauniverse brings cluster effect to the digital road of industrial enterprises. Through the digital twin established by the industrial metauniverse, enterprises can more intuitively understand and manage real-world behavior, achieving real-time synchronization of data from every node. As early as 2022, Siemens began the layout of the industrial metauniverse, working with partners such as NVIDIA and SONY, combined with Siemens’ industry know-how, and actively promoting the innovative application model of the industrial metauniverse, helping customers accelerate the pace of digital transformation and enhance sustainability.
”To discover, to verify, to feel” are the three key words mentioned by Joe Bohman when referring to Siemens’ industrial metauniverse strategy. “The industrial metaverse gives us insight into engineering. We work with the world’s leading enterprises to promote the application of AI-driven digital twin technology in the field of industrial metaverse, helping customers to deeply discover insight opportunities, to quickly and accurately simulate verification, to immersive interaction with models, so that enterprises of all walks of life and different sizes can harness the capabilities of industrial metaverse, thus expanding the digital imagination space. We will open up innovative paths for intelligent upgrading and enhance our core competitiveness.”
