On October 22, Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) held the “Fuel the New ‘Carbon’ Power – the Third Honeywell Green Development Summit” in Nanjing, and released the “Embracing the Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future” industry white paper. The white paper updates the six major energy efficiency theoretical systems to provide real-time direction and reference for the energy transformation and low-carbon development of refining and chemical enterprises. At the same time, the company officially announced the launch of green hydrogen catalyst coated film (CCM) technology and low global warming potential hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) hybrid refrigerant Solstice® N15 (R515B) to promote the sustainable development of the industry with low carbon technology. This summit further demonstrates that Honeywell is actively responding to the three major trends of energy transition, future aviation and automation.
Honeywell Sustainability Institute released the White paper “Embracing the Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future”
Honeywell Sustainability Institute released the “Embracing the Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future” industry white paper, in-depth analysis of the current situation and trends of energy transition and zero-carbon development, and updated the previously proposed six theoretical systems of energy efficiency, covering the three dimensions of technology, sustainability and capital. Based on these theories, major emitters, including refining and chemical enterprises, can more effectively balance business needs, optimize decision-making, improve productivity and efficiency, and increase return on investment.
At the summit, Honeywell announced the progress of green hydrogen catalyst coating Film (CCM) technology to the Chinese market. Compared to traditional water electrolysis technology, Honeywell CCM technology not only achieves significant improvements in stability and mechanical strength, but also increases hydrogen production per unit area by 55%, effectively reducing the cost of the electrolytic cell stack in the proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis process by 35%.
At the same time, in response to the rapidly growing demand for industrial heat pumps in the Chinese market, Honeywell introduced the groundbreaking low global warming potential refrigerant Solstice® N15 (R515B), which can meet the needs of industrial high temperature heat pumps at 80 ~ 100 ° C and is more energy efficient than traditional heating methods in the range of 80 ~ 100 ° C. Vigorously promote the development of the industrial high temperature heat pump industry chain, and help the low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of the industry by reducing direct carbon emissions.
“With the further promotion of the ‘double carbon’ goal, energy transformation has become an important path for all industries to achieve sustainable development – improving the ‘green content’ of energy is the key to improving the ‘gold content’ of development.” Jianneng Sun, vice President and General manager of Honeywell Energy & Sustainable Technology Group China, said, “This is the third time that Honeywell has hosted the Green Development Summit. In addition to showcasing our latest research reports and innovative technologies in the field of low carbon, we hope to continue to participate in China’s sustainable development with partners, academics and industry through this platform. To inject innovative vitality into China’s energy transition.”
At the Green Development Summit, Honeywell also showcased low-carbon technologies including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon capture (CCUS), UpCycle processes, high-performance materials and other areas, and worked with partners to achieve a number of strategic collaborations to advance sustainable development.
Honeywell and Geely Holding Group Innovation Center signed a strategic cooperation memorandum to jointly explore the application of low-carbon technologies such as carbon dioxide capture, green methanol synthesis and sustainable aviation fuel to accelerate China’s energy transition.
Honeywell and Beijing Hanergy Qingyuan Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation memorandum, the two sides will further promote the application of UpCycle process technology based on the cooperation of the first waste plastic chemical recycling commercial project, and jointly promote the development of advanced plastic recycling technology industry in China.
Honeywell and Shanxi Methanol Economy Industry Association entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly promote sustainable aviation fuel technology and its entire industrial chain to help promote industrial transformation and green development in Shanxi Province.
Honeywell and Hisense Home Appliance Group Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation memorandum to continue to accelerate the application of fourth-generation hydrofluoroolefin refrigerants in industrial and commercial refrigeration, industrial and commercial air conditioning and other fields on the basis of their existing cooperation, and further expand the cooperation to the Asia-Pacific region to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the refrigeration industry.
With the transformation and upgrading of the Chinese economy, the low-carbon economy has become a new growth engine, and the government and enterprises are working together to promote the development of low-carbon technologies in fields such as renewable energy, clean transportation, green buildings and circular economy. In March this year, the Chinese government stressed in its work report that “further promote the energy revolution, control fossil energy consumption, and accelerate the construction of a new energy system.” In August, The State Council issued a white paper entitled “China’s Energy Transition”, which showcases China’s positive results and practical practices in promoting energy transition. Recently, China launched a pilot application of sustainable aviation fuel, and 12 flights will be officially refused with sustainable aviation fuel, marking China’s civil aviation industry has taken solid steps in the green and low-carbon transformation. These initiatives are not only critical to boosting domestic economic growth, but also provide a model for sustainable development globally.
Honeywell’s core business aligns with China’s macro strategy and market needs. The company adheres to the concept of deeply exploring China and focusing on long-term development, and will continue to develop and provide customers in various industries with advanced technologies and materials that promote energy transformation, sustainability and decarbonization, as well as high-performance industrial solutions. Further deepen technological innovation and local cooperation, promote low-carbon, efficient, safe and healthy high-quality sustainable development, and empower Chinese partners to achieve energy transition goals.
