Siemens Digital Industrial Software has announced a renewed partnership with Infineon to combine Siemens’ embedded automotive software platform with Infineon’s AURIX™TC4x microcontroller based on the AUTOSAR R20-11 standard to help automotive Oems prepare for production. Provide the next generation of features required for software-defined vehicles (SDVS).
Today’s automotive industry, with increasing demands for autonomous driving, ADAS, electrification, and passenger comfort and entertainment, demands more computing, functional safety and cybersecurity capabilities. To achieve this, it becomes essential to combine an advanced microcontroller such as the AURIX TC4x with an intelligent software platform suitable for the system development process.
Siemens’ embedded software team worked closely with Infineon to help key customer BMW implement production-grade embedded ECU software. In addition, Siemens has partnered with BMW to build a cloud-based software development process for software-defined vehicles using Siemens’ embedded software development tools.
Frances Evans, Senior Vice President, Digital Industrial Software Lifecycle Collaboration Software, Siemens, said: “Siemens and Infineon have a long history of successful cooperation, and the successful implementation of Siemens’ AUTOSAR standard embedded software in Infineon’s AURIX TC4x advanced microcontroller demonstrates that the overall solution of hardware and software integration can accelerate the realization of SDV industry needs.”
Thomas Schneid, Senior Director of Software, Partners and Ecosystem Management at Infineon, said: “Infineon has been promoting the AUTOSAR standard since 2004 and offers microcontroller products for AUTOSAR solutions, including the AURIX TC4x. Our collaboration with Siemens Digital Industrial Software is focused on enabling automotive Oems to build a software-defined vehicle future through embedded software based on the AUTOSAR standard combined with advanced microcontrollers.”
Siemens’ Capital™ Embedded AR Classic provides the AUTOSAR software platform that supports advanced microcontrollers on the market, drives AURIX TC4x’s multi-core, functional safety and cybersecurity capabilities, and offers feature-rich, functional safety and cybersecurity certified software. Help automotive Oems simplify the certification process. Microcontrollers like the AURIX TC4x are key components in the automotive industry, enabling control and monitoring of various systems in vehicles, including electric powertrains, battery management, ADAS, radar, and chassis. Infineon’s AURIX TC4x microcontroller combines enhanced power and performance with trends such as virtualization, AI-based modeling, functional safety, cybersecurity and network functionality to pave the way for new E/E architectures as well as the next generation of software-defined vehicles.
