Ai Xuefeng, Director of Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and Huijie Shang, Senior Vice President of Siemens China, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties. In May 2018, Siemens signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Guangdong Provincial government, and this renewal will push the cooperation between the two sides to a deeper level and bring a broader space in the digital era.
“For more than 150 years, Siemens has consistently supported its customers in China with innovative technologies, outstanding solutions and products.” “We will take this renewal as an opportunity to further deepen our cooperation, and look forward to working with Guangdong to jointly explore innovative solutions in the fields of digital transformation, low-carbon sustainable development, smart manufacturing, and future-oriented digital talent training, shaping new advantages of high-quality development and tapping new drivers of economic growth,” Cedrik Neike said.
Dr. Xiao Song, Executive Vice President of Siemens Worldwide and Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens China, said: “Guangdong adheres to the ‘real economy as the foundation and manufacturing as the master’ and strives to build a modern industrial system with more international competitiveness. This provides a great opportunity for Siemens to cooperate with Guangdong Province. In the future, Siemens will actively contribute to the construction of strategic industrial clusters and the development of digital economy in Guangdong with the two-wheel drive of digitalization and low-carbon, and promote the sharing, co-creation and win-win situation between the two sides in a wider scope, deeper degree and higher level.”
According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in industrial manufacturing, intelligent infrastructure, research and development and innovation, and personnel training. Siemens will rely on advanced digital technology and profound industry accumulation to help Guangdong’s advanced manufacturing industry develop into digital, intelligent and green, actively participate in the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and support the construction of a world-class metropolitan area. The two sides will also achieve the development and improvement of talent training, teaching cooperation, integration of production and education and even industrial empowerment through co-creation and the combination of industry, university and research.
As an important measure to implement the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Siemens and Guangdong Province, Siemens and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., LTD. (referred to as “GAC Group”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement during the “2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – European Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference” in the afternoon. Siemens will cooperate with GAC Group in digital factories, intelligent infrastructure, “dual carbon” development and high-quality industrial talent training, research and development of a new generation of automotive development model based on digital twins, and provide a full range of smart park solutions to create business value.
The earliest cooperation between Siemens and Guangdong can be traced back to 1929. Since 1999, a number of global executives of Siemens AG have successively served as economic advisers to the Governor of Guangdong Province, actively contributing to Guangdong’s industrial upgrading, innovative development, and green and low-carbon city construction. Through strategic cooperation with the Guangdong provincial government and enterprises, Siemens will further strengthen the transformation of innovation results in the Chinese market, and work with many important partners to promote scientific and technological progress, industrial upgrading and sustainable development.
